Kurosa the Covetous

Anger, impatience, and murderousness define this Demonspawn. Her devotion to Siroth’s goals is total – to such an extent that she would go further than the Shadow God himself if she could. For this reason she is among the most dangerous of her kind. Even the God of Darkness himself might show more restraint than her. * The Dreamwalker seduced many Elves of Aravia with promises of knowledge and power. This led to the War of the Elves and irrevocable split of the Aravian population into the ‘High’ and the ‘Dark’. Among the latter was Kurosa, a lesser daughter of a lesser line of the Aravian monarchy. She was no darling or heir like Princess Lydia. She was lonely and afraid, coveting acknowledgement. The Dreamwalker saw and heard her like no one else did. When it transpired that the Dreamwalker was in fact Siroth, Kurosa did not feel anger at his deception. He had recognized her, that was true regardless of his identity. If he knew it would take a lie for her to open her heart to him, then that only showed his care and wisdom more. Using knowledge drawn from ancient tomes, Kurosa found a portal to Anathraad so she could kneel before the Shadow God personally, thanking him and pledging herself to him. Kurosa offered Siroth her every waking moment, her soul. Make me your weapon, she begged. This piqued the Shadow God’s interest, and tickled his Anathraad-warped sense of humor. He granted her Demonhood, a boon he gave to the most devoted mortals. The form he granted her was unlike any other, however, yet it was exactly that she asked for. To the untrained eye, one might have seen a winged, horned monster, similar to other Demonspawn, carrying a large, vicious ax – a common weapon. But the truth was that Kurosa was the ax. Its toothed maw and unblinking eyes were hers to speak and see through. The monstrous bipedal form was the vessel with which she could stride Anathraad and Teleria, and the two were bound. Kurosa could even transform it at will. Should she be separated from her carrier, dark magic would see her teleported back into its grasp in an instant. Kurosa laughed. Her lord was indeed funny. And generous – he had granted her precise wish. Amused by himself and pleased, Siroth gave Kurosa free rein to pursue his interests as she saw fit, wreaking havoc in Teleria wherever she found opportunity. She was one of many performing a similar function, all acting independently and randomly, all the better to confuse Siroth’s foes by attacking without patterns and never giving them a moment’s true peace. Kurosa collected many pawns to aid her in this time, including Gracchos Turn-drake. Kurosa performed this duty for many years, gratefully. She killed and tortured and burned and destroyed while laughing, to Siroth’s praise. Flushed with the power of Darkness, to her the mortals of Teleria were pathetic and weak, deserving of all the suffering she inflicted, needing Siroth's strong rule. But the Shadow God never seized power. His major plans failed. Between them, no amount of instability Kurosa or her fellows caused anywhere was enough for him even to launch a localized assault. Her impatience and anger grew. If Siroth had lost confidence then she would have to take care of him, just as he had taken care of her. She had to show him the way. Show him what was possible. Ask for forgiveness, not permission. And so she planned an assault on Teleria, utilizing every resource at her disposal, to encourage her god to act.
