Venalicia Thrallmother

If you fail him… if you fail Mother… your punishments will be unforgettable.’ The obsessive alchemagi and arcanoscholars of the Cult of K’Leth are forever at work, experimenting with sorcery, substances, and flesh. Venalicia, a fanatical devotee to Losan K’Leth’s Cult from youth, was a willing subject to the powerful Knight Revenant Kylos the Maggot – an expert in mind-control magicks so named for his desire to bore into mortals’ very sentience. Kylos sought the perfect servant – completely obedient and controllable without the need for supervision. He killed or drove insane over two hundred test subjects in the attempt, finally succeeding with Venalicia. The most vital factor: her desire. Venalicia was a disturbed young woman, brutally abused in childhood. The Cult saved her from it, and she was forever grateful. There was nothing she would not do to further its goals and protect its members – no matter how lowly. Thus Venalicia gladly took the ‘crown’ Kylos made for her. Made of layered magisteel and sorceriron, it caged her cranium and was bolted to it. Within its frame were more than a dozen ensorcelled nails, all pointed toward Venalicia’s skull. These were Kylos’ insurance policy – if she ever went rogue, he could drive each of these points into her brain with a thought. Venalicia was made Thrallmother, Mistress of Thralls. All of Kylos’ paeons were to report to her in his name. It was a role to which she was perfectly suited: obsessively maternal with the obedient, ruthlessly sadistic with the defiant. She wields the rod with regularity, weeping because those receiving it ‘forced her’ to do so. Wherever she treads, Kylos’ slaves bow low and praise the ‘Kind Mother’. The Thrallmother has an important duty besides the management and discipline of Kylos’ thousands of slaves and followers. She is also responsible for controlling the most powerful and insane prisoners in Kylos’ collection. These are sorcerers and warlocks of every Telerian species, as well as Demonspawn. Most of them were kidnapped. A select handful Kylos worked with before betraying them. Venalicia uses her principle weapon and badge of office, Chokehold, in this role. It is made of the same material as her crown, and also has ensorcelled nails looped around its horseshoe head to eliminate those within its grip if necessary. This head can open like the pincer of a murdercrab at Venalicia’s command, and she closes it around the neck of any of Kylos’ possessions. Once done, the prisoner is rendered magically inert and safe for transportation, interrogation, and experimentation. There is nothing Venalicia does not love about her duties.
