A powerful, respected Lightbringer, Celendiel is known as a friend and protector of Aravia, not because he is an Elf but because his personality aligns with Aravian values – he prizes dignity, beauty, order, and elegance.
He fought tirelessly during the Second Great War securing the underground tunnels on the Aravian border, beneath the Mountains of Despair. The vast lightless caverns and chokingly tight, oppressive tunnels formed nigh-unassailable strongholds for Painsmiths and Demonspawn, so he waged a constant struggle to keep those forces contained. He dearly missed the light of day and the beauty of the Aravian cities and countryside, but never did he waver in his defense of the gloom. He knew that to abandon his duty would terribly imperil the things he fought to protect.
In countless battles, Celendiel earned a reputation as an incredibly resilient guardian: his own body, as well as parts of his battle gear, is made of an enchanted substance resembling opal, but harder than diamond. His fighting style, totally composed and inexorable in both attack and defense, fully exploits his durability. Though not the swiftest warrior, Celendiel’s every move was, and remains to this day, precise and calculated, leaving no vulnerability.
Centuries after the Second Great War ended, Celendiel continues to battle the Undead and Demonic threats lurking in the undermountain, while attempting to bring the Dwarves of Gloomdeep Hold into closer alignment with Aravia. Though his intentions are pure, the Dwarves distrust him, suspicious he is an Aravian agent.
