The Stormwind Wastes are cursed ground. They are littered with abandoned cities and tombs, infested with monsters and Demonspawn emerging from the Brimstone Gate, and thick with Undead of all types. Only evil thrives here… including the Knights Revenant. For the Knights Revenant, the Wastes are a trove of ancient secrets and dark magic, and the reason that they have established a staging post at the southern entrance to the Wastes, in a ruined city now known as the Hallowed Halls. Mighty artifacts of power lay hidden beneath shrouds of dust in forgotten temples. Black grimoires and weapons imbued with sinister power await the hands of those brave enough to wield them. Elsewhere, powerful Undead slumber in ruined crypts, awaiting the call of a necromancer mighty enough to bind them. To locate these treasures, the Knights Revenant employ specialist scouts known as Necrohunters. The Necrohunters are experienced explorers and delvers drawn from the intermediate ranks of the Cult of K’Leth. They are selected for their skills as thieves and treasure hunters, and the best of them are capable of locating and exploring even the most well-hidden tomb. They move unseen and unheard through the ruins of the Wastes, avoiding the attentions of the creatures that dwell there and slaying them when they cannot. Each Necrohunter is armed with a bow crafted from the bones of long-dead warriors and a quiver full of crypt-arrows, marked with grave dust and necromantic sigils. With these, they are capable of dispatching almost any foe, living or dead, as they search for the relics that their masters desire. While the life-expectancy of a Necrohunter is slight, the promise of immortality draws many to their ranks. One such was Jediah Cruun, a former bandit and grave-robber. Cruun, like many others, came to the Cult of K’Leth in search of power and eternal life. When his superiors in the Cult learned of his skills, they immediately bestowed the duties of a Necrohunter upon him. Cruun was not overjoyed with this ‘promotion’, finding the thought of going into the Wastes to be a terrifying one, but he did wish to be immortal. Cruun hit upon a devious plan, one designed to preserve his life and improve his standing within the Cult all at once. Rather than risk himself in the ruins, he instead ambushed his fellow Necrohunters and offered up their discoveries as his own. While competition among them was fierce, normally few Necrohunters would dare to interfere with another for fear of angering their masters, and revenge from their fellows. This strategy paid off wonderfully for Cruun for several months. He chose his ambush sites with care, and always made sure his work could be passed off as the actions of one of the monsters that haunted the Wastes if it were discovered. But one day, his ambush was almost his undoing. His target proved to be more wily than Cruun anticipated, and escaped, albeit with one of Cruun’s arrows in his back. Cruun’s scheme was discovered by his superiors. But rather than being angry, they seemed impressed with his initiative. Despite his initial fears, his masters proclaimed that such a display of lateral thinking deserved promotion, not punishment. He was offered the opportunity to be inducted into the Knights Revenant, which he eagerly accepted. Jediah Cruun’s dark soul now resides in a soul gem, buried in some secret location, safe from all harm. What Cruun thinks of his new existence is unknown, for he has yet to be infused into a new body. It is not likely he ever will be.
